High-Gain Compact Circularly Polarized X-Band Superstrate Antenna for CubeSat Applications

In this letter, a concept of high-gain circularly polarized X-band antenna employing partially reflecting surface (PRS) has been presented. the initial analysis, influence parasitic element size in PRS structure on radiation pattern parameters investigated and optimal arrangement elements identified. The proposed provides wide bandwidth return loss above 10 dB 20% (8–9.8 GHz) circular polarization (CP) frequency range 8.35–8.95 GHz. final design is compact (62 × 62 22.2 mm) lightweight (29.7 g), which makes it suitable for use not only CubeSat communication systems but also drones high-altitude pseudosatellite applications.
